On Joining a CSA: Part Deux

• 12 February 2008

Last year I read an article about Community Supported Agriculture programs around the nation and became very excited about the prospect of joining here in SLC. I found one via this website and promptly joined. We enjoyed our experience immensely and signed up again for 2008. I am not sure how other CSA's are priced but ours, through East Farms, is very cost-effective. For about $10 per week you receive a box of freshly picked organic produce, straight from the farm. If you need to miss a week due to vacation plans, you can double up the following week. It's awesome.

You can read all about it here.

You can sign up locally here.

  1. I think that's a great idea. Fortunately, we live in the plainsland where there's plenty of room for everyone to have their own garden. I LOVE fresh produce!

  2. Wow, I wish I lived where you do! My CSA is $27/week and in the winter I very rarely get enough produce for what it costs. But it supports our local farmers and is organic and all that, so I keep doing it. Until I move back to SF and have real farmer's markets!

  3. thanks for the info....what a great idea....good for your local economy as well. i'm looking into "buying" a cow. yes, we enjoy beef....have you ever tried "laura lean's beef." it's great...if you eat it. apparently the prices on beef at a local farm, who feeds the beef organic feed, given no hormones, etc. is also very reasonable. do you know anything about this?
