Belgian Chocolate

• 19 October 2009

You can't visit Belgium without digging into chocolate. It's famous for a reason and not-to-be-missed. We enjoyed sampling a few from each of the local chocolateries and determining which ones we liked best. The storefronts were also exquisite and even more spectacular, at times, than the chocolates! I was very impressed with the amount of effort put into excellent presentation.

While all the chocolates were absolutely delicious, I couldn't help but feel like the best chocolates in the world are right here in the U.S of A. at Woodhouse Chocolates. This is the stuff that dreams are made of...if you love chocolate that is (who doesn't?). If you're lucky enough to live in the Bay Area, head up to St. Helena at your earliest convenience. Even if you're not a wine drinker, it's still fun to visit Napa Valley for the scenery, great food, and small-town experience. By the way, Quatres Epices, Mint, and Passion Fruit are my favorites at Woodhouse.

My friend who did an internship in Belgium was always telling us about the "chocolate and lace." We told her it sounded like some sort of 80's big hair band. lol :) Looks divine though

I stumbled onto your blog somehow, and was so happy to see your vacation rental in France. I'm keeping you in mind for my next trip to France. My son in law's parents live in Toulouse, and when we go for a visit, we love to do other side trips. Your place is gorgeous!
We lived in Paris for two years, and I can only imagine what you went through to renovate your beautiful place! Everything runs at a snails pace :) Love your beautiful blog as well.

We went to St. Helena this weekend...happened upon their Hometown Harvest Festival, shopped, had lunch at Market (our favorite restaurant/cafe, and topped it off with chocolates from Woodhouse Chocolates a few doors down. They are so scrumptious! Those are my favorite flavors, too!

There's a Belgian chocolatier less than half a block away from my husband's work. It's a terrible, wonderful thing.
