Communal Restaurant GIVEAWAY
• 16 October 2009
Two weeks ago I was invited to a luncheon at Communal--Provo's sister restaurant to the fabulous Pizzeria 712. I decided to make the 50 minute trek down from Salt Lake because I guessed it would be delicious, as I am already a huge fan of Pizzeria 712. But, little did I know that I would find myself there two days later, on my own dime, enjoying yet another fantastic meal. I'm officially hooked! Did I mention I am making plans to go back in the next week? :)
The restaurant is a lovely place to visit for a variety of reasons...let me name a few:
1. Cool location--I love it when old buildings are refurbished for modern use. Props Communal.
2. Open kitchen--you can see the chefs at work in the {clean} kitchen, and hear your steak sizzling on the grill.
3. Everything is fresh, inventive, and comforting...three of my favorite adjectives when it comes to food.
4. Gorgeous interior--colorful art, simple furniture and great lighting.
5. Pretty bathroom :)
6. And last but not least...these former Sundance chefs also worked in some of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco like Jardiniere & Le Petit Robert (where we ate for my oldest daughter's first birthday). I love a little San Francisco in Salt Lake!
Communal would like to offer one reader the chance to experience a world-class meal her/himself. For this giveaway a $40 gift certificate goes to the lucky winner. But for all of your sakes (everyone deserves to eat there at least once), stop by and see what the hullabaloo is all about with your own eyes (and taste buds). You will not be disappointed.
P.S. My favorites include the Seared Scallops in Brown Butter, Heirloom Tomato Salad & Butterscotch Pot de Creme. They are all not-to-be-missed!

ReplyDeleteI love your blog. BUT I will be very careful when seeking restaurants from now on. We went last night to Communal in Provo. There were 3 of us in our group. We ordered pot roast, halibut, squash, green beans, polenta, and we had to ask ourselves, "are you full"? Our bill was 75.00. (after 2 "$8." desserts! Well we try restaurants along the 'wasatch front'BUT we can cross that one off our list. One hour later, we were wondering if we ATE dinner. Everything was actually good, but it was like going to a Tasting Party!! Sorry. Just being HONEST!!!!!
