Kitchen Drawer Revamp

• 03 December 2009

When my sister tended my children for a week earlier this year, I not only came home to happy children, but to organized kitchen drawers. She took it upon herself to tidy up two of my messiest drawers and turn them into one of the most organized areas in my kitchen (or my home for that matter). What a gal she is!

After emptying the drawers she first lined the bottoms with a cork "shelf" liner. Then, she added a few interlocking dividers to reign in things like teaspoons, wooden spoons, spatulas, etc. The end result made me so happy. Call me crazy, but there is something to be said for opening up a drawer, cupboard, closet, etc. and experiencing total order. If only I could make it last...:)

  3. I lined all my kitchen drawers and most of my shelves with cork when we bought our house earlier this year. It really helped spruce up the 50+ year old wood cabinets.

  4. For a year I housesat for friends who had the most organized kitchen I've ever seen. Every space was so intelligently organized. I loved it.

Now that I am again in an apt full of horribly designed storage space I miss that kitchen every day! Oh I dream, I dream of a future kitchen like that one! I feel your joy!

  5. Can I just say how much I love your organization posts? I appreciate so much their mix of helpfulness and sheer class--no cutesy little gimmicks, just practicality, clean lines, and a refreshingly sophisticated color palette.

I enjoy reading your blog so much! Thank you for all the time you put into your posts.

  6. What a great sister. My sister who is on a mission would do this when she watched my girls, I would come home to something newly organized. Oh how I miss her!

  7. I use those white interlocking dividers in my narrow bathroom drawer. I love them! It allows me to get my "stuff" that isn't nice to look at off the countertop. One bin for hair elastics, one bin for floss and toothbrush...now I have to do it for my baking utensil drawer! thanks for the tip!

  11. my drawers are always mess up. Every items are in there and it's hard for me to find things that I want. If I have a free day, maybe I should organize it in dividers.
