stephmodo: Colorful Stoves

Colorful Stoves

• 22 April 2010

Spotting this image made me rethink the idea that my dream kitchen is full of clean, modern stainless steel appliances. How fun would a yellow stove be? or perhaps one in robin's egg blue? Word is that a company called Elmira Stove Works will paint any stove you order in a custom shade of your choice. Aaah...I'd choose a luscious color from Farrow & Ball, how about you?

  1. I'm with you on this--my original dream kitchen was black with stainless steel. Now it's changing to a colorful mashup, and I must say, so much more fun setting the table these days or mixing up something (think those colorful Anthro latte bowls and you've got my kitchen now).

  2. You would probably love the red, blue and pale yellow ranges and refigerators from AGA, too. Check them out at www.aga-ranges.com.

Your blog continues to be a huge inspiration!

  3. I know what you mean. I have (sometimes clean) modern kitchen now but I also love these types. I think I need about 5 houses to decorate in different ways. Lately I've been craving a country farmhouse kind of home - must be spring.

  4. I can't decide on the color of my dream stove until I get an apartment that I can paint, but I have a best friend whose favorite color is yellow, hands down! I am sending this her way :)

  8. I so want that stove. Even though I'm in a rental at the moment, even though I don't know what our next house will look like. I heart that yellow.

  9. When we moved into our 1938 home in 1980, the stove that you featured is exactly what was in our home, except that it was white. Where the kettle is setting is a well for slow cooking- like a crock pot. The panel on the left is a griddle. The door on the right is for warming. The stove cooked brilliantly, but it was not well insulated and the commercial gas line coming into the stove caused the room to be so warm that there was not a heat vent into the kitchen. Lovely in the winter, shockingly hot in the summer- even in Denver. The stove was made by Chambers.
