Abstract Landscapes of Katherine Sandoz
• 21 July 2010
One thing I've come to fully appreciate over the years is the value of original art. It doesn't have to be big and expensive, just lovely and original. A day never passes without an appreciative glance towards one of the few pieces I've slowly acquired over the years, as they add such an uplifting vibe to my living space. In the past, I've gone to a lot of effort to save up for a little painting; but, it's all been worth it...through and through.
Katherine Sandoz, a painter and illustrator is one of my new favorite artists, and most recently, a blog sponsor. I'm a huge fan of her abstract landscapes...Huge! I love the colors, the shapes, the cheerful mood they exude...the overall package. I am confident that many-a-designer and also just normal people like me who simply appreciate art and design will be thrilled to make her acquaintance. You can also catch her work in the latest issue of New American Paintings, a prestigious art publication.
Katherine is not only a mother of 2, but holds 3 degrees and lives in the southern, sultry and friendly town of Savannah, Georgia. When she's not off teaching classes in southern France at SCAD Lacoste, she paints daily in a barn her husband kindly renovated as a studio. Sounds pretty dreamy, right? Well, wait until you catch a glimpse of her beautiful paintings.
favorites: waterway series / images from her workshop in southern France / treescapes / petit gauke island abstracts

I seriously have to save up for one these. I grew up very near Savannah and some really remind me of home.
