Fancy Cupcakes for the Home Baker

If you haven't stopped by the design-savvy cupcake website, Ming Makes Cupcakes, you'll have to pop over for a look-see today. You'll appreciate this website for its simply-styled images, layout and font choices. It's not everyday that you find something so lovely at the hands of a non-professional (she openly confesses she is "just a home baker"!) I find it just superb and cannot wait to give these cupcake recipes a go...first up will probably be the Key Lime or Lemon, but that Chocolate Beet cupcake recipe has got to be one of the most intriguing yet.

ReplyDeleteEarlier this week I did make a cupcake similar to the lemon meringue...but I did a lot of cheating. Lemon cake mix...filled cavity with canned lemon pie filling and frosted with canned frosting...sprinkled with lemon zest.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious - though the frosting was mediocre...but the concept of lemon filled cupcakes is wonderful.
I'm sure the "from scratch" variety tasted better but I was kind of in a hurry and not up to baking so soon after the holidays :)
I've enjoyed looking at all the other cupcakes!
I have made a few recipes from her website but the the apricot jam cupcake with mascarpone frosting and toasted almonds is unreal. I made a double batch for my husbands birthday and there was nothing but crumbs left. amazing! I'm dying to try to fig cupcake. mmm
