True, kids will be kids...but they don't have to be ill-mannered kids! I think part of teaching children thoughtfulness, empathy and gratefulness is encouraging them to write thank-you notes. I haven't done a stellar job so far, but I'm trying; especially after reading this on a parenting site.
One day E offered the following after yet another generous friend (thank you friends!) dropped off a meal post-S..."Mom, we should write them a thank-you note!" Hmmm...says I...this is an excellent opportunity to teach a lesson! Parents, don't you love it when situations like that present themselves? Anyway, I ended up offering up some of my own notes for her to use; however, my supply quickly depleted and I decided that I should probably procure some little notes for E (and for L too when he is old enough) separate from my own supply. I think it would make her feel special.
Here are a few ideas for both girls and boys. I personally don't think teaching a young boy to be thankful will affect any portion of their masculinity :) Even my Sports-Center-lovin'-football-playing brother-in-law writes them!
