MOA

• 02 June 2007

On Friday we cruised down to good ol' Provo to meet my cousin Adrienne at the BYU Museum of Art. I try to be the kind of Mom that takes her kids on cultural excursions but often I wonder why given the three-kid-factor. Perhaps I need to wait a few more years! We breezed through all three exhibitions in a record 53 minutes.

At one point I pretended to not see my old boss Cheryll because L. was throwing a fit over wanting to get out of the stroller and I did not want that moment to be the only impression of me as a mother :) I laughed at myself afterwards.

Three exhibitions are currently on display at the MOA:

1. American Dreams (permanent collection)
2. Beholding Salvation (depictions of Christ from the 16th Century to today)
3. Paths to Impressionism (paintings from the Worcester Museum of Art in MA)

My favorites in the Beholding Salvation were the Rembrandt etchings. It's amazing how much fine art BYU owns. I tell you that MOA is a gem of a museum.

The Impressionist paintings were fantastic. I visited Worcester while we lived in MA and fell in love with this little museum and it's surprisingly fantastic collection. What a treat to see them all again in person.
