stephmodo: Menu for the Week

Menu for the Week

• 01 January 2008

We had some French visitors in town so we ate a little (okay so a lot) better than usual. I found myself hesitant to introduce them to the usual quesadilla-with-orange-slices-kind-of-lunch we usually partake of around here. It just didn't seem like they would enjoy that type of "cuisine". I opted to take my friend Tam's advice to serve dry salami, good cheese, a baguette & fruit for lunch. It was relatively easy and they did enjoy the food (insert sigh of relief).

Here is a rundown of the dinners & desserts I made throughout the week for them...

Let's start with dessert first since that's the kinda girl I am:

Cranberry Apple Crisp (inspired by Snake Creek Grill's version) with Fendall's vanilla gelato
Molten Lava Cakes with Haagen Daaz Vanilla Swiss Almond (a Lunt combo)

Main Dishes:

Dijon Chicken Stew with Potatoes & Kale
Pork Chops with Creamy Mushroom Sauce and Mashed Potatoes (I'll use a little less broth next time)
Baked Ziti with Spinach & Tomatoes
White Cheddar Corn Chowder (I added bacon and a few extra potatoes)

...and lots and lots and lots of crusty bread, because that's the way the French like it :)

Back to quesadillas and peanut butter & jelly!
