stephmodo: Budget Bedroom Makeover

Budget Bedroom Makeover

• 22 February 2008

I've always read that bedrooms are supposed to be "sanctuaries" and places of "respite", yadda yadda. Unfortunately, our bedroom is most often the dumping ground for all things homeless in the house (or apartment). Why not use that scratched up end table for a nightstand? Oh, here's another good idea...let's flank it on the other side of the bed with a rarely used mismatched file cabinet...perfect! Pick up the bed off the side of the curb and you've got yourself one heck of a romatic oasis, no? Hopefully, you are conjuring up a sense of what we've lived with, and slept with, for the past few years. This is all about to change.

We decided to embark upon a budget makeover for the bedroom, in an effort to transform our hodge podge bedroom into what it should be--a true sanctuary. Over the past few weeks I've sold every piece of furniture (including the bedding) and am trying to figure out just how to use my spoils. I don't have much--Craigsters do like a good deal--so it looks like I'll just have enough for a headboard and new bedding (see left). But, I couldn't be happier to take on this challenge. I guess I'll just have to find a few more things to sell so we can have nightstands again :)

Sweet Dreams!

  3. yeah...that bedroom configuration sounds familiar...Luckily, the hubby has promised me full reign of a makeover once the basement is all done. Just a few more weeks! Yahoo! We'll have to compare notes! If you see that kissing pleat bedding at Antrho go on sale, let me know!
