I think many of us think we have to stick to one style or one time period exclusively when decorating our living spaces. I love how this picture shows us how beautiful it is to mix the "old" with the "new". Let's admit it--this space is rockin'. I'd love to recreate this look in an old apartment someday...when we live in the city again. hint hint nudge nudge oh husband of mine.
this really is a beautiful space...
ReplyDeleteit's great...thanks for sharing this. My tastes lean more toward modern, but I've received a few pieces from my mother that are much older (i.e. children's rocking chair made by great-grandpa, vintage linens) and more traditional looking. I'm stressed trying to blend the styles together as seamlessly as in this photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of an elegant space with modern furniture.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of furniture - we re redecorating the kids rooms and looking for furniture. Where did you find the brown nursery furniture? I love brown... it is so rich.
Lauren, we purchased our furniture at USA Baby. I think it might be a chain. Check it out and see if there is one in the NY Metropolitan area. Miss you!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this kind of juxtaposition.
