This is the perfect way.
Take a simple mason jar or similar jar from IKEA. Place a cropped photo inside. Add a few rocks, pebbles, pressed leaves, or that pine cone you (or your child) picked up along the way. If you really want to go the extra mile, add a little leather tie (see above) or some ribbon might be nice as well.
I think I might put together something like this for my oldest daughter. Last month we gathered some pine cones and took a lot of photographs while hiking as a family in the Uintas. She will totally dig it.
