stephmodo: Classic Flan

Classic Flan

• 05 January 2009

If you are making a Mexican or Spanish-themed dinner and are at a loss as to what to serve for dessert, give this flan recipe a go. It's easy to make and requires only a few ingredients, many of which you'll likely have on hand already.

A few notes regarding the recipe...1) make sure the sugar is dissolved before turning up the heat. This will take about 15 minutes or so...and 2) boil the syrup until it is deep amber (but not too deep!) as a lighter syrup won't pack nearly as much flavor.

  2. Hey, I'm not sure if it's just me and my awesome computer, but every time I try and link one of your recipes I can't. It goes to a blank page that sais ERROR 44.

If someone has already commented about this, I'm sorry for the annoying repeat.

Thanks. Your blog is a favorite.

  3. Hi Bee,

I double checked the link and it does work. I am so sorry you are having problems linking! It's got to be due to a setting on your computer or something. Send me an email if it happens again and we'll try to come up with a solution :)

  4. Yum, and I was impressed with myself for serving dulce de leche ice cream with a spanish-flair meal. I will try this next time I'm feeling ambitious.
