Meyer Lemons at Costco
• 19 February 2009
Yes, it's true. Did Costco just became a little cooler or what? You should've seen my face when I saw these delicious smelling yellow beauties next to the conventional lemons at my local Costco (downtown SLC). My, oh my. I bought two containers and am now wishing I'd bought a third...perhaps tomorrow I'll make another trip! The best part? The containers are $7 and contain 15 lemons! This is an incredible bargain. So if you love Meyers like I do...get thee hence to Costco!
Note: if you ever wondered what a Meyer lemon was, see the label on the side of the above package :)
I found some at my local Costco yesterday and let out an audible gasp!. I also picked up a 5lb bag of limes for $4 so frozen key lime pies shall be made today.
ReplyDeleteUm, have you seen this? Because one day, when I find Meyer lemons for sale, I'm making this: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/little-lemon-souffles?autonomy_kw=little%20lemon%20souffles&rsc=header_3
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what the difference between a lemon and a Meyer lemon was. Now I do :)
ReplyDeletelittlecumulus: I've made those souffles a long time ago. They are gorgeous but a lot of work. Maybe it's one of those things you make one time and then you're good for awhile :)
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting.... I've been wanting to try this recipe- it would be perfect for one of your meyer's: http://smittenkitchen.com/2009/02/whole-lemon-tart/
ReplyDeleteLove Costco.
ReplyDeleteI must get these - love Costco!!
ReplyDelete:)
Love, love, love meyer lemons!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad! I went to my costco and they didn't have any. Maybe I'll call tomorrow and see if they'll be getting any in (at all).
ReplyDeleteDo you have the SKU/product number you could possibly email me?

Thanks, Stephanie!

I have a bunch of Meyer lemons that were from a nieghbor's tree. I've found some recipes, but were just curious what you like to do with them.
ReplyDeleteJen
Chelsea, I tossed the containers and placed the lemons in bowls until I used them up...which was in 2 days within purchase!
ReplyDeleteJen, I like to make Meyer Lemon Curd (using the lemon curd recipe I always post about but substituting Meyers); and I also like to make Meyer Lemonade. Yum. YOu could make a tart or those little souffles on Martha :)
Thanks for letting me know, Steph!
ReplyDeleteFirst Paige denim and now Meyer Lemons. Costco is indeed getting cooler. I must make a trip this weekend and see if my local branch has them.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try Meyers lemmons. I'll have to pick some up next time I'm at Cost Co. I've been craving lemmonade and I'm sure those lemmons would make excellent lemmonade.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you use your lemons for? I have a Meyer lemon tree that bears several hundred lemons a year and am at a loss as to what to make with them.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go get these! I love Meyer lemons. My favorites.
ReplyDeleteTricia, you are one lucky girl. A few hundred Meyer lemons a year sounds like heaven in my book!
ReplyDeleteI use Meyers to make lemonade, lemon curd, or next on my list...a Meyer Lemon tarte au citron.
Such a fantastic tip – I posted a link to your lovely post on my blog. I heart Meyer lemons! (Love Meyer lemon pancakes.) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMeyer Lemon Pancakes? Sounds to-die-for...care to share the recipe? :)
ReplyDeleteI actually totally cheat and use Dancing Deer's Meyer Lemon pancake mix (www.dancingdeer.com) + add a smidge of fresh Meyer lemon juice in with the batter. Simple but very delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I put a link to it in my last post (giverslog.com).I've been baking away with lemons from our tree, but have really wanted to try out the Meyers. So thanks!
ReplyDeleteMeyer Lemon Pancakes are the best! ^^
