stephmodo: Earth Tee GIVEAWAY

Earth Tee GIVEAWAY

• 24 April 2009

As I've watched the amount of trash we throw out each week shrink; and the amount we recycle each week grow, I've thought a lot about my own personal contributions to both landfill and recycling center. I've learned that taking the time to recycle as much as possible requires a little extra effort if you live in a place where they don't make it easy peasy for you (you Pacific Northwesters have it soooo good!). But you know what? It feels really good to take a few extra minutes to ensure a contribution to this good cause. Keep in mind that traditional recycling isn't the only way we can help our planet--you can read more about it here in a "recycled" post about easy ways to be more "green" :)

So readers, since it is Earth Week and we are already on the subject of improving our earth, how about a little giveaway along those same lines? The Terra Tee Project has been kind enough to offer one reader my favorite t-shirt from their collection--the Earth Tee ($65 value). I love a pretty li'l graphic tee and this eco-friendly version is not only beautiful, but it's a tee you can feel good about wearing for all sorts of reasons.

First, the tee is made from 100% organic cotton farmed in the USA. It is also manufactured here in a sweat-shop-free environment. There's something you can feel good about! Terra Collections also uses low-impact, eco-friendly dyes as well as water-based inks to create their tees. As an added bonus, 15% of your purchase goes to the environmental charity of your choice. Sweet! If you can't wait until the end of this giveaway

So what do you say, shall we get this Earth Week giveaway started? Oh, and while you're leaving a comment, feel free to share any easy tips or ideas you may have about being more eco-conscious or recycling in general. It's not necessary to leave an idea or tip to enter the giveaway, but it would be much appreciated :) Thanks!

  54. Oooh, love a pretty tee!

My favorite tip is to stock up on cotton napkins and keep near the paper towels. Any time you can, grab a napkin instead of a paper towel. My napkins are kind of stained and gross at this point due to the kiddies, but I think that is a good sign!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Reusable beverage containers. I decided disposable beverage bottles of any kind were such a waste of resources. Going for coffee, take the reusable mug!

  66. Love that tee! My tip is reusing paper in my office printer. I hate when I print out an email or webpage and an extra page prints with like 3 words on it or some tiny little text. I keep that extra "blank" page and reuse the back of it, either as scrap/scratch paper or flip it over and put it back in my printer.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  68. Pretty Pretty Tees please...

  69. check if your child's school recycles. if not, you could help set up a program for the entire school. it is amazing how much paper, cardboard, etc... a school can recycle!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Adorable! Anyone who has their own yard should have a garden and compost their fruits/veggies remains. I love doing this at my mother-in-law's house! I feel so good. Also--check out second-hand stores more often for things like soccer cleats, bike helmets, ballet shoes, etc. You just feel like you're doing your own little part in reusing.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Planning on planting a garden this year and walking more places instead of driving!

  81. I made a rule for myself in college (I'm 24 now) that I would never drive anywhere that was less than five miles away.

  87. Cute T-shirt. We always had an overflowing recycle bin since it only gets picked up every other week with the trash. We recently started using my trash compactor for recyclables instead of trash because at the end of the day we had -- and should have -- more recyclables than trash!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Wow, love those tees..
wouldn't it be great if you picked me..

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sooo cute!

I always reuse paper with a blank side. I rarely need to print anything that needs to be "official" or look nice, so I just print on the back, no matter what color :) Double-sided printing also saves a bunch!

  96. I would very much like to win this comment.

    ReplyDelete
  97. May Canadians enter?

  108. i think it is important to plant an awareness for the earth in your children when they are young. my mom was the only one on our block that recycled when i was a kid and it made a big impression on me. i was always educating my friends about it. i also had some influential teachers that were earth friendly and taught me to be resourceful and conservative. i would wear this tee with my earth loving pride.

  129. Choose Me! Choose Me! Love the tee.

Two fun ways I recycle are:

    1. Using fabric from clothing I no longer wear to create quilts or soft toys for the kids.

    2. Rather than throw out old bread pans, muffin tins, ziplock containers, etc., I pass them on to the kids for outdoor play. They can use them to create mud pies and snow castles.
