Laduree

• 16 April 2009

Blueprint recommended Laduree in their Paris guide* and such a solid recommendation coupled with Rachel's "you-must-visit-Laduree" advice made the famous macaroon-producing patisserie top on our list. Oh how we loved it...so much that we both agreed it was one of our two favorite dining experiences in France.

My sisters and I do love a good tea room and Laduree's fresh herbal tea offerings were irresistable. Although slightly overpriced, the food we ordered was delicious and much appreciated after a few days of crepes and baguettes off the street. For added humor I took pictures of everything I ate, as well as the table setting, and the Italian couple next to us thought I was c-r-a-z-y.

p.s. As an added bonus you can order their famous macaroons after your meal to avoid the incredibly long lines downstairs. Oh and their pretty green boxes...gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

  2. I want a SLC guide that includes cool Paris-like teashops. Is there some undiscovered neighborhood in Sugarhouse or somewhere close that looks like Paris????

  7. That was pretty funny- the looks we were getting from the couple next to us. I think I loudly said "food stylist" just to get us off the hook.

My omelet was to-die-for and the mint tea-fresh mint leaves steeped in boiling water- was amazing. I'm looking forward to planting my own mint just to replicate it!

So yummy and SO FUN!!! Ahh, Paris...

  14. Mmmm...love macaroons & those look yummy. We have a shop here (Montreal) called PointG that sells only macaroons. My favorite flavor so far is caramel à la fleur de sel. Mmmmmm.

As I go to Paris often for work, I'd love a pdf of the guide.

  16. Travelin' Oma, I'm not sure there is enough French coolness in little SLC to justify a guide...BUT, there is a lovely little restaurant in the 15th and 15th area called The Paris Bistro. It has a fun zinc bar if I remember correctly and the ambiance of a fun, Parisian restaurant. Other than that, I like Les Madeleines. She makes yummy macaroons. I've visited many a tea spot in SLC and while many are good, none of them feel the same as something you'd find in a bigger US city or Paris. However, I haven't tried the Beehive Tearoom and I hear it's the best! It's next on my list....
