stephmodo: Yummy Banana Bread

Yummy Banana Bread

• 25 May 2009

This is some of the best banana bread I've ever consumed. Not a surprise though, the recipe hails from my favorite bakery in Boston--Flour Bakery + Cafe. Yu-uh-mmy!

Find the recipe here.

update: I've now discovered two banana bread recipes that call themselves Flour Bakery recipes and both from legitimate sources--the Food Network and Epicurious. They are slightly different. One I've linked to above...here is the other.

  4. Burns Family: you can find creme fraiche at Harmons or Liberty Heights Fresh locally. If in a pinch, you can substitute sour cream on this one.

  5. Yes, that is the best banana bread ever! I still have yet to try it with creme fraiche (I don't have it on hand), but I've always had good results with plain or vanilla yogurt.

  8. You can also get creme fraiche at trader joes if you live near one!

And Steph, do you tops brown pretty quickly? I just tried it tonight and ended up turning down the temperature. (my middle wasn't ready but the corners were getting done)

  9. kelli,

I noticed the mini loafs baked perfectly but now that you mention it, the large loaf started browning too quickly. I'll either use only mini loaf pans with this recipe from here on out or perhaps lower the temp as you suggested for the larger loaves.
