Living in the French countryside means seeing a whole lot of cows...every day and all day. I have no complaints though; I fell in love with this aspect of country living and enjoyed observing the cows and their habits. They are the happiest cows I've ever seen--the ones living in Beynac. You may think this sounds crazy but it wasn't uncommon to see them trotting around their pretty green, hillside pasture. They seemed pretty content :) Needless to say, when we stumbled upon this turn-of-the-century print of a beautiful cow at a local antique market, I knew it belonged in La Maisonnette.
I believe these will be the last of the images from La Maisonnette du Coteau I'll be sharing here. If you would like to see more, click here.
We noticed a lot of cows and also MANY donkeys while visiting Provence. Is this true in this area also?? We were told that donkeys are old-fashioned lawn mowers. Makes sense, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these pics. They are quite incredible!
wow! thanks for posting all your great pics.. you really did an amazing job with the place! incredible!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great pics...sad it's the end of them, though :) Still want to get there one day and experience all you have shared!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited whenever I see a post about La Maisonette! Even if it is really about cows! I can't wait to stay at La Maisonette someday!
ReplyDeleteBeing an antique lover, I am curious about the buffet. Tell us about it....Is it an antique? How old is it? Where did you find it? I love versatile pieces that can be used in different places in a house ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe buffet is from the 1600's...it came with the cottage :) I can't tell you how cool it is to have something that old at La Maisonnette! For the first time in my life, I love antiques :)
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to go through La Maisonnette withdrawl! You have no idea how much we loved seeing how much progress you guys made as we all cheered you on. I too, love seeing happy cows, luckily I have some right down my road. Not as cool as France, but I'll take it!
ReplyDeletefun series!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the cows! We've just built a home where cows are roaming all around. I love your cow print!
ReplyDeleteI also love the cow painting on your 11/2 post. When that home was published in House Beautiful, I knew that was the look I wanted for my mantle. After tracking that painting down (oh the cost!) I had a local artist paint one of the cows around our home. I'll be posting about it next week!
Thank you for the inspiration!
