Forever 21 Maternity

• 07 July 2010

I'm so glad I popped onto the blog, Uber Chic for Cheap, this week. Madeline shared some fun news--Forever 21 recently launched a maternity line! Since this is my last pregnancy, I am not interested in purchasing additional {and often expensive} maternity clothes, even though I'm admittedly very, very tired of what I've been wearing day-in and day-out. But a $10 top is completely justifiable, no?

You can purchase the maternity line online (it's pretty limited right now, but I'm sure they'll expand), but I noticed that many sizes were sold out already. However, it's possible that your local store may carry the line in-house as select stores are receiving the full maternity line alongside their regular stock. You may want to give your local store a ring before heading down there if you're itching to see the pieces in person. Locals: the South Towne location is where I shopped this morning; Gateway does not carry maternity at this time.

If you're interested in a few notes regarding sizing, this is what I observed:

1. Tops ran true to pre-pregnancy size.

2. Bottoms ran a bit small; in the jeans I went 2-3 sizes up from my pre-pregnancy size. In the leggings I could've easily worn my pre-pregnancy size--they fit just fine; however, I opted for a size up in case I accidentally threw them in the dryer. Plus, I know there is still some expansion in the works :)

p.s. thanks to all your wonderful suggestions, here are a few new maternity favorites I've discovered this time around--Shade wrap half-sleeve tops and Old Navy fold-over skirts. I'm continuing to love old Babystyle tops (although they are out-of-business, you can still find pieces on Ebay), a few pieces from Liz Lange's line for Target and black matte jersey dresses from Gap and Old Navy.

Thanks so much for taking the time to drop a line. I really appreciate it!
