Caramelized Fig Ice Cream + other Delicious Ways to Use Figs

• 14 September 2010

We tackled beets last week, and now it's time to focus on another intimidating fresh ingredient--figs! Now that fresh figs are in season (look for the common Black Mission fig at your local grocery store), it seems only fair to give them a little spotlight of their own.

Today over at Zupas, I am sharing some suggestions for simple and delicious ways to use figs --both sweet and savory. You'll enjoy adding one of these recipes to your repertoire--they make the perfect appetizers!

I love figs! They are a treat alone, but also delicious with paper thin prosciutto and a thick balsamic glaze. YUMMY!

this post answers a google search i did just yesterday!
i'm sitting under a fig tree as we speak, with figs falling beside me.
the best i've come up with yet is to feed them to my 10-month-old, they are perfect for him.
now i've got more ideas, thank you!

My parents have a huge fig tree and I definitely don't take advantage of it. One of these days, I'm going to make this fig pizza, because the photo makes my mouth water every time I look at it: http://www.funfindsformom.com/blog/fresh-figs
