Getting Settled in Seattle
• 09 November 2010
I know Seattle has a reputation for being gray all the time, but we've had some amazing weather in the past two weeks since moving here. I am trying to cherish it and take advantage of it as I've heard the next six months are slated to be wet, wet, wet. Isn't Autumn in Seattle a lovely time of year? I can't get over the colors myself. While things are a bit challenging still, we are so grateful to be here and are falling in love with this fantastic city. Living by water again is just an absolute delight!
We used to live in Bellingham and I couldn't get enough of the summer and fall. I get homesick for it every year. And it's true, I did use the memory of that time to get me through the rainy season. Thanks for the lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous city dear. There is an upside to the wet, wet, wet...you get to start a fabulous collection of wellies!

I lived in West Seattle for 4 years and still miss it - even the weather. I've never appreciated a sunny day more. I even miss the gray misty days sometimes. But I did learn to plan a trip to someplace sunny every February, even if just for a weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! My husband and I have been dying to move out to the PNW but with the state of the economy haven't been able to find jobs to make it happen. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI was born in Seattle, raised in Bellingham (which you have to visit someday, it's the coolest little town!).
ReplyDeleteMy only advice for the constant drizzley days: try not to let the rain stop you from doing what you want to do, or you just might be a prisoner in your own house:)
Have so much fun, and I second what Jamie said, you really really learn to appreciate a sunny day!
Beautiful photos! I've always wanted to visit Seattle...and it seems a lovely place to live.
ReplyDeletecongrats on the successful move. jealous of the new location.
ReplyDeleteSeptember and October I think are the very best months in Seattle, though May is lovely too because every pretty thing blooms in that climate!
ReplyDeleteYay! Seattle is fantastic. So happy you and your family are enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Seattle! I got here 3 years ago and I really don't think it is as rainy as they all say!
ReplyDeleteWelcome!! We live in Gig Harbor...over the Tacoma Narrows bridge. We moved here from TX 2 years ago. Of course everyone thinks it rains all the time...but it doesn't. We are so happy to be living by water again too. Having Mt. Rainier in the background isn't too shabby either. I feel like this is the best spot we have ever landed in.
