stephmodo: Looking Out For Each Other

Looking Out For Each Other

• 30 November 2010

Today I've been thinking about how each of us individually struggles, and how important it is to support one another the best we can. I've learned that even people who don't appear to be having a tough time are often those struggling the most. Life sure can be hard sometimes and we'd do the world (and ourselves) a favor by simply reaching out to others and just being present for them. I love this quote...it embodies exactly what I've been observing lately:

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. ~Plato

Such a wonderful reminder, isn't it?

  3. Like a mini-morning devotion.

YES. And how often is it really THAT HARD to just be kind? Not very. Thanks for the inspiring thought!

  4. I've had the very same thoughts. Especially lately I've felt very strongly about that. I'll be posting that quote on my own blog. Fantastic.

  11. Beautiful! And I agree about those who don't appear to be struggling are sometimes the ones that are the most. But ultimately, everbody needs a warm smile and to know you're simply there. xo

  12. This is so true. Those that need love and support the most are usually the ones that can't ask for it and come across as the most "with it." Thank you for the reminder. xxx

  14. love this quote-- also one of my favorites. however, it's not actually by plato, or by philo of alexandria (the other mistakenly attributed author). it's originally based upon a quote by ian mclaren, the pen name of a reverend. it's reappeared quite frequently since he originally wrote it back in the 1800s and has been tweaked a bit, but it is based upon his original words.
