Remember that column in National Geographic where they presented an image and asked readers to guess where in the world the image was taken? I loved that game...I wonder if they run it...
Anyway, any guesses?
Funny memories from the day:
My son saying, "Mommy, it's too sunny here." Ha! After less than 6 months in Seattle, he is officially accustomed to gray.
Also, my daughter decided to "dance" to the accordion music playing in the square. Who knew it was even possible to get a rhythm going to accordion music? I'm guessing jet lag had something to do with it :)
Well the first picture reminded me of Amsterdam, but I clicked on the other images, and I'm thinking Brugge? I loved that column in NG!
ReplyDeleteLast month my two-year old spent a couple of happy minutes dancing to a street performer's accordion music. Funny how little ones can find that beat.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Bruges but that cathedral was completely covered in scaffolding when we were there almost a year ago so I can't be completely sure. Loved that city:) We've only got 4 more months of our life here in Germany so be sure to set me straight if my guess is wrong. We're trying to plan all of our final vacations (slightly depressing to be honest).
ReplyDeleteAntwerp? Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteprague?
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in Belgium by the names of the shops. But I wouldn't know where...
ReplyDeleteAntwerp, if I'm not mistaken. I lived in Mechelen for a year and visited there often!
ReplyDeleteIs it Munich? Definitely looks like a German city to me! I LOVE Germany!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks Belgian to me with those rooflines - is it Antwerp town square? Have a wonderful stay in Europe and I hope the cottage will be lovely and cosy with that beautiful new stove.
ReplyDeleteDefinitly Antwerp,
ReplyDeleteI am a begian for shure.
prague?
ReplyDeletewhen you said accordion players it reminded me of the incredible three-some that we saw playing in the town square... simply incredible.
steph, are your children on Spring Break? I would love to travel more, I am always trying to figure out how to work around their schedule. Also trying to decide if a week is worth it with the jet lag considerations. How does your family do it? Any break possible?
ReplyDeleteI think you are being tricky here...and I am going to say Leavenworth, WA (the Bavarian village) because I don't think you have traveled abroad since having Grey.
ReplyDeleteI have never been, but have always heard about it and plan to visit some day!
This touches a nerve of someone living in Antwerp ... the beautiful Grote Markt ;-)
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you're enjoying your stay in this wonderful city. I moved here last year.
PS. Found your blog through Cannelle et Vanille.
See I thought Amsterdam too - just becuase of the the buidlings - I love them, so regemented and uinque!
ReplyDeleteoh i'm so THRILLED you guys got away! and enjoying the sun! hooray!
ReplyDeletelive it up, sister. you deserve it.
love, liz
I'd say Antwerp, Belgium too, but it's been 10+ years since I've been there, and I'm too lazy to get out my old photos! This is fun, please do it again!
ReplyDeleteAre you in France allready? However, I am going to guess the photo is taken somewhere in Belguim like Brussels or in Holland based on the architechture. Conde Nast does a theme similar to the one you are talking about with National Geographic.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... looks suspiciously like the Grand Place in Brussels! If so, hope you stopped in at the TinTin shop and/or La Cure Gourmande! Bon Vacances, mes amis!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Copenhagen.
ReplyDeleteIs there a prize of two round trip tickets for the first correct guess? :) In my dreams.....
I have no idea, but it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a plane ticket to Paris for 2 weeks from today. I'm POSITIVELY bursting with excitement. I've never been anywhere and I can't WAIT to go! I wish I was close enough to go to your easter egg hunt at those amazing gardens with Design Mom.
Any travel tips, or tips on where to go in Paris?
You guys are good...really, really good!
ReplyDeleteAntwerp it is :)
I'm having fun with this and debating keeping the guessing fun going this week...any objections?

I'm guessing Belgium. I have the best memories of backpacking there. One nice family in Bruges even took my two friends and me to their home to spend the night, after they found us wandering around in the dark looking for a youth hostel (that ended up being full). Such warm and welcoming people.

ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Brugges (sp?), as I have been there....and it looks very much like I remember it. Lucky you!

ReplyDeleteAm I too late to say, 'yes, keep the guessing game going?' I'm sure everyone would love more glimpses of interesting and beautiful places you are visiting. Hopefully the weather will stay as fair as it was in Antwerp!
ReplyDeleteDelft, Netherlands!
