stephmodo: How to Make Your Own Salt

How to Make Your Own Salt

• 25 October 2011

Today, over birthday lunch at local favorite Boat Street Cafe, my husband and I discussed the stimulating subject of "salt" (ha!) and what we think is the best salt in the world. Our conversation immediately reminded me of this beautiful post my friend Ashley wrote about making salt with her kids in nearby Puget Sound.  She wrote the post a few weeks ago, but I cannot get it out of my head and just had to share it with you.  You can peek at her appropriately-entitled blog, Not Without Salt to read just how she did it...I think you'll be pretty darn impressed too!

  1. I've been thinking about that post for a few weeks.
When we lived on the Florida/Georgia border, one of the local historical homes still had an enormous pot on display. The young men in the family would go to the beach, spend about a week boiling up the saltwater & then return home with their year's supply. Someday I will attempt it myself.
