Curing the January Doldrums
• 16 January 2009
Is it just me or has it been a tough two weeks? Jan 1 - Jan 14 seemed a bit dreary. Could've been the weather. Could've been just me. Who knows? But, I do know that I'm finally out of it thanks to a few proactive measures. In case you were (or still are) feeling a case of the doldrums too, I shall share them with you today.
Caveat: it would've been nice to treat myself to a day at the spa or something luxurious like that but let's be honest...that's not realistic for most of us so let's do this budget style so we can all participate!
Here it goes:
1. Get a good night's sleep
2. Buy fresh plants, maybe 3, for your main living spaces.
3. Drink a fresh squeezed juice (I like Blue Star in SLC--they squeeze your juice upon ordering and have a drive-thru--try the orange/apple/carrot combo)
4. Organize a frequently viewed/used closet or drawer (I did my clothing closet). You'll be amazed at the piece of mind it brings to you.
5. Do something nice for someone else. Bringing joy to someone else will only make you happier.

What a great list. I'm going to save this & pull it out anytime I'm not feeling my best. That juice looks heavenly! :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks for your uplifting inspiration.

I spotted the cutest mini plants today at Lowes for about $3. I even got some simple pots for gifting them in. I needed a pick me up. I think anyone could use a simple little sign of something green and alive come January. Great ideas. Thank You Thank You!
ReplyDeleteI was at Ikea yesterday and needed a pick me up so I got a huge palm tree plant with a fresh new white planter. It makes me smile and definitely cured my doldrums, for the day at least!
ReplyDeletethanks for the list!! keep 'em comin ;)
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere you could have a living plant for every 250 sq feet in your house. I think it would help with this month too :) Jan. is hard for me!!
