An old friend shared this wonderful recipe with me a few years ago and I've never been tempted to try another...it's such a great recipe to have on hand. Make sure you use a high-quality semi-sweet chocolate chip like Ghirardelli
Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs (room temp if possible)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (feel free to throw in the whole bag if you like them super chocolate-y)
Cream butter, brown sugar and white sugar together in a mixer. Then add the eggs, one at a time. Beat until creamy. Add the vanilla.
In another bowl mix the dry ingredients together before slowly adding them to the creamed mixture. When combined, stop the mixer and add the semi-sweet chips. Mix up and then drop by the teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Mold them into a ball as best as you can with the spoon for a more shaped cookie.
Bake on 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Place on wire rack to cool. Enjoy!
we'll be making these this weekend (instead of shopping ;-)
ReplyDeleteokay so my problem is that my cookies always flatten out. i like my cookies thick. how do these compare in thickness?
ReplyDeleteYou must know I've been craving these ever since you brought them to class last week! Thanks for sharing. I'm so excited to make and then devour these bad boys! Yum!
ReplyDeleteDo you want to know a secret that will make these EVEN better? Add a box of powder vanilla pudding to the mixture. It makes them that much more fluffy and thick. Yum. I can't make them though cuz I'd eat the whole batch. Every time my sis uses this recipie people think she got them at some amazing bakery. Serious.
ReplyDeleteLiz I like mine pretty thick too...but I realize this is a relative term. I find the consistency on this recipe to be spot on!
ReplyDeletethese cookies taste WAY better with a large box of vanilla pudding mix added to the ingredients. trust me.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll try these, but with whole wheat pastry flour instead of white. Thanks for posting the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI tested these out over the weekend - they're fantastic! I've never been able to make anything but flat and crispy cookies and these are just the opposite. Thank you, Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteSooooo delicious! I am in love with this recipe and will be passing it on for sure! I added the vanilla pudding and they were PERFECTION!
ReplyDeletemade these today and really loved them! i added some orange zest to half the batch and i had some divine orange chocolate cookies! yum, thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteMmmm I can't wait to make these. Ali, how much orange zest did you add?
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE chocolate chip cookies in my house. The vanilla pudding mix sounds like an interesting addition that I definitely want to try. I know it makes cupcakes moist and yummy. I'm sure it will make these cookies scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteI bookmarked this recipe over a year ago and finally made them last night. Oh my...this recipe is an absolute keeper! My husband & I love a fat + gooey cookie and this one is perfect! I've tossed my other recipes and will stick to this one from now on. Thank you for helping me bring a smile to my husband's face after a very long business trip!
ReplyDeletehow much is 1 cup butter in grams?
ReplyDeleteThese are baking in the oven as I type this. They'll be the perfect Friday movie night treat!
