stephmodo: Come Visit

Come Visit

• 04 May 2009

We recently finished creating a little guest bedroom...finally! While we love our Aerobed dearly, it's nice to have a more permanent place to sleep our guests. The room is tiny, and only holds the furniture you see here, but I say as long as there is a bed, you're good to go. I tried to create a hotel-like, gender-neutral space for the family and friends who visit (please come!).

Like always, we furnished this room with lots of budget finds. Here are my sources:

Upholstered Headboard: Target...can you believe it? It received excellent reviews online, so we took the plunge. I love it, especially because it was only $200.

White Sheets: TJMaxx/Homegoods. This is my favorite place for well-priced, high-thread-count sheets...we're talkin' $50 or less for 600 TC+.

White Duvet Set: a now-defunct bargain warehouse called Lucky Aces :( From now on I'll hit Homegoods for stuff like this.

Throw/Quilt: IKEA

Lamp: also a Lucky Aces find...

Nightstand: I spent months trying to find a nightstand that I liked, that was in my budget, and fit the tiny space next to the bed. After coming up with zippo I decided to use one of my spare kitchen stools that I bring out for cooking classes. Oddly enough, I like it...a lot actually. Sometimes it's all about using what you have!

Art: a new Chad Wys aquisition. He was such a trooper on this custom piece. I named the size I needed for the space, sent him the swatch of the wall color (as well as a link to the throw on IKEA's website), to ensure everything looked the way I envisioned. Once again, he did not disappoint. His pricing is incredible and I encourage everyone to snatch up a little piece from Chad before he hits the big time :)

Not pictured is a large mirror on the opposite wall to create the feeling of a larger space :)

  10. Is the stool from Sundance? I'm dying for a similar stool but am looking for a less expensive option than the Sundance stools. May I ask where the stool came from?

    Thanks much!

  11. that looks sooo great! you're so cool =) and i think the Chad link is one of the greatest things you've shared - i am definitely going to get something from him, thank you! i didn't look closely at it when i was over, but the painting in your living room with the turqoise seemed to really make your space.

  18. Steph! I'm glad you finally found a nightstand! What a great idea. I am gearing up to redo all the bedrooms in our home, and finishing a brand new one for the girls in the basement. Thanks for all the inspiration here, it will be put to good use!

  19. Molly, the chair is actually from Sundance but I purchased mine at the Sundance Outlet. I am lucky to live quite close to the one and only :) if you look carefully at one of the legs, you'll see why it was at the outlet...
