stephmodo: Julia's Life in France

Julia's Life in France

• 16 July 2009

If you love food and you love France, you must read this book. I realize now that I need to get my hands on a copy of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. While I don’t intend on ever making my own terrine or anything else really complicated, I do see value in learning how to make a few basic French dishes.

  1. I just placed an order for this book last night! It looks to be a good read...

Looking forward to the 'Julie & Julia' film later this summer.

  2. I took this book out of the library after a recommendation from a friend. I knew nothing about Julia Child and wasn't sure how I'd like it, and I totally LOVED it! I was so taken with how direct and sometimes irreverent Julia was - she really made me laugh. And her dedication to learning more and more about cooking was so impressive to me. A great read!

  4. My husband bought the cooking books off ebay for me last year. He worked on the movie Julie and Julia and was inspired for me to get cooking! I love, love her style.

  9. Have you seen the new movie coming out with Meryl Streep playing Julia Child, and Amy Adams playihg a woman named Julia who writes a blog about Julia Child's cookbook/recipes? It looks like a good one....You'd probably enjoy it.

  10. You should read On Rue Tatin(?). It's a very similar experience to yours.
