Morning Jumpstart
• 15 April 2011
One of the best things I've done for my health in the past two years is begin each day with a tall glass of water. It doesn't matter if I'm eating steel cut oats or a stack of pancakes--making sure that water is the first thing my body intakes each morning makes a huge difference in how I start my day. I can't emphasize enough how much better I've felt since forming this habit and couldn't resist sharing this little tip with you. It turns out that water is the fuel that drives my energy level (not to mention post-baby-weight-loss) and keeps me moving through the morning at a steady pace. And what is not to love about that?

I recently started this exact habit, and I completely agree. I do feel better. This is the easiest health "secret" that everyone should make a habit.
ReplyDeleteI do this too!!! I am so parched after sleeping, so this really helps me not feel thirsty....and I feel better!
ReplyDeleteDrinking water at certain time maximizes it's effectiveness on the body:
ReplyDelete2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal gestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack
organs ;
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digeston
It looks like a few of us are on the same page! Isn't it interesting how something so simple completely changes how you feel all day long?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
great tip. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI agree -- getting the water intake has been a huge deal for me in the past year. A year ago at Mayo Clinic I had my colon removed due to ulcerative colitis (yes, the entire colon!) and one of the biggest side effects of that is dehydration because one of the colon's special functions is absorbing water to the rest of your body. So now I have to make an extra special purpose to be sure and get enough water into me all day long. It's harder than one might expect! But the difference I can feel in my body is incredible. Dehydration is no funny matter!
ReplyDeleteI remember you mentioning this a long time ago. I've started doing this and it is wonderful! My day starts off with lots of energy and I feel great!
ReplyDeleteThey've proven that the brain actually NEEDS a big shot of water to officially wake up in the morning. My math teacher in high school said so. And she wouldn't lie, would she?
ReplyDeleteStumbled on your blog while bragging a little about Sheps Salon to a friend. Thanks for your writeup so I could show them off.
ReplyDeleteThis post caught my attention. I have noticed that a cool class of water will wake me up, but I haven't built it into my daily routine. I will absolutely try it!
Hmmm... fascinating. Found this via simple lovely. May have to give it a try...
