White Dishes
• 29 March 2011
After emptying out a cupboard the other day and placing my dishes on the dining room table, I noticed how pretty they looked in the morning sun just beginning to come in (when sun is a precious commodity, as it is here in Seattle, you take in and appreciate sunshine in a new way!); and then I started thinking about how much I've enjoyed my white dishes over the years. Many things have changed, but I've never tired of these everyday essentials.
Today, over at Zupas I've shared lots of sources for clean, crisp white dishes (including my own). Take a peek here.

I'm the same way. I have a collection of white dishes, from plates and same mugs as you (!!), to serving trays and bowls. They always work with the decor or holiday and showcase the food so well!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love my white dishes. Mine are embossed with fruit around the rims, but it is so subtle that they still go with everything. I love how they can be dressed up or dressed down, and they can easily be paired with other colors too... So versatile.
ReplyDeletearen't they beautiful! i love how food looks on them. it's a piece of art at each meal.
ReplyDeleteI love my white dishes!!! We've had the WS Apilco traditions for years but they're getting pretty dinged up with all of our little kids:(. They're expensive enough that we're replacing them with the WS pantry collection and they look so similar that I'm happy to use them for a few years.
ReplyDeleteI must ask, do your dishes from Target microwave well? We have been living off of an Ikea set for way too many years and they have always been terrible in the microwave. The plate gets burning hot, and the food barely heats up. I've been on the hunt for a nice yet decently priced dish set for a while now, so needless to say, your post came at a the perfect time.

P.S. I discovered your blog through Cher. We became friends through a mutual friend here in Seattle and our husbands now work together!
Yes, they look quite beautiful, simple but very beautiful, thanks for the photo ;-)
ReplyDeleteEva, they actually do. We've been surprised at the quality of the dishes. Go Target!
ReplyDeleteI love white dishes! They are such a staple and can be integrated with whatever wild looking plates I'm into at the moment... right now, it's some overly decorated 'gypsy' style dishes!
ReplyDeleteYes - registering for simple white dishes was the only thing I got right when I registered all those years ago. They just never go out of style.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant, what a simplicity and beauty joined!
ReplyDeletePerfect ones ;) Nothing unneccessary, only beauty
