Nie Nie on Oprah
• 09 October 2009
In my home, we don't have cable tv hooked up and this is a great blessing 99.9% of the time. However, missing Stephanie Nielsen's appearance on Oprah yesterday fell into that .1%. But thank heavens for the internet! Now we can catch a glimpse of that unique experience right here as she welcomes a fellow mother into her home with a camera crew. You can also read more about some very touching moments regarding the plane crash and Stephanie's recovery here. Grab a tissue or two though prior to clicking on any of these links. Even if you're not a cryer (like me), you.will.cry.
Is her bravery overwhelming or what? She is my hero.

i've been waiting for someone to post about this! she is so incredibly strong, but what really made me cry was to actually see how MUCH her husband loves and adores her.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. That clip on Oprah is all I get since it doesn't show on BBC. I've asked a friend if she DVR'd it & if my husband can pick up a copy on a Stateside trip.
ReplyDeleteIt's been almost four years since Stephanie & I lived in the same ward. I'd wondered if her voice had changed. A touch raspier than I remember, but it's her. Talking, breathing, sharing her love with the world.
She is amazing, inspiring and brave. She is still incredibly beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteWow, we don't have cable tv either, but I was so glad you posted this. As I read and watched that clip it gave me a real appreciation for life, motherhood, and the gospel. She is amazing! I am still crying from it, what a beautiful family and spirit that they bring to the world!
ReplyDeleteIt was an amazing show! It was a great lesson -how they had the other mother spend a day with her to see what Stephanie goes through.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this. I do not watch Oprah and would have missed this, had you not posted. Stephanie is so brave and strong. She really understands what life is all about.
ReplyDeleteI was able to tune in and watch it after learning about Stephanie on Monday and spending some time on her wonderful blog. What a strong woman! I think she's just incredible.
ReplyDeleteI cried the whole time too. And I agree -- seeing her husband's adoration is so special.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! I'm dying to see it somewhere online...
ReplyDeletewasn't she lovely? she made me proud.
ReplyDelete{p.s. we don't own a tv so i had to hijack my neighbor's couch for the show. worth it.}
I was only able to watch the first few minutes of the interview before I had to leave for an appointment. But even in just the little bit I saw, I was blown away by NieNie's grace and strength. It made me cry. She is such an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't cry either.
ReplyDeleteBut I clicked the link.
And I cried too.
NieNie was amazing. I was fairly disappointed with Oprah's handling of it and more so with the woman who came into her home. "You used to be so pretty!" Way to miss the point, lady.
ReplyDeleteBut kudos for NieNie for being so brave, love her.
This is exactly how I felt with not having cable!! I'm still searching for the entire segment--hoping it will appear online. She is truly amazing.
