2008 Recap

• 07 January 2009

My mind is heavy today for many reasons. I am thinking a lot about 2008 and 2009. I know this is a little late (it is January 7 after all) but since I still haven't taken down Christmas decorations and what not, we'll pretend the new year just began, shall we? I'm behind on so much this week so it seems rather apropos anyway :)

New Year's Resolutions - 2009

1. Be a better mother. I love my kiddos so much, but sometimes I am not sure I convey that love in a way they understand.

2. Try to feel more peace and patience within myself.

3. Be more gracious.

There ya have it. Last year's list was much longer and honestly, a little daunting. I'm trying to be reasonable about my expectations for myself this year since it feels like I am constantly mulling over ways to improve every day anyway.

To a new year!!

P.S. Here are some of my favorite posts from last January, in no particular order:

The Comparison Trap

Clutter Control Wisdom of the Ages

How to Host a Raclette Party

Terrariums

Framing Art, Budget Style

Celebrating Chinese New Year (now is the time to start planning!)

my list: no more perfectionism. lighten up, have more fun, don't be so serious, etc......
Perfectionist are generally not very happy people (including myself).

Happy new year Steph! I am glad we got to see each other this year. I love your post on the Barefoot Contessa in Paris - can not wait for that to come out.

I like your list. It is heartfelt and with that said it should be easy to accomplish.

You have no idea how much comfort it brings me to know that your tree is still up. Or at least that it was 2 days ago. Ours is still up with no determined time for dismantling. When I get to it??

January 7 is about the earliest I am ever ready to make resolutions. I just need some time to mull them over. I love your gentle list and hope you find the time and space to be gentle to yourself throughout the year.
